Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper clinches his second consecutive DP World Tour title with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African golfer Jayden Schaper has done it again. Just a week after his victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper triumphed at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the La Réserve Golf Links, securing back-to-back wins on the DP World Tour. In a thrilling playoff, he edged out American Ryan Gerard to claim the final tour title of the year.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, which brought both players to a tie at 22-under-par.

The playoff was decided on the second extra hole, where Schaper sealed the win with a spectacular chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second consecutive playoff victory and a perfect end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: “The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the new year.”

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a steady week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys for a 71, keeping him in the top tier of the leaderboard.
