Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in dramatic playoff

Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open playoff.

South African golfer Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling finish on the DP World Tour, winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in a playoff with a spectacular chip-in eagle. The victory marks his second consecutive title after triumphing at the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week.

Competing at La Réserve Golf Links on the scenic island of Mauritius, Schaper started strong with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine. He maintained momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, carding an impressive final-round 64 (-8). American Ryan Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), highlighted by six birdies.

Both players finished the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a dramatic chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The win caps off a remarkable end to the season for the 24-year-old South African.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after the win, Schaper expressed his joy and disbelief: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place. Despite a final-round 71 that included three bogeys and four birdies, Jarvis remained a consistent presence near the top of the leaderboard throughout the week.

Mixed results for German players on final day

German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider, after a steady front nine, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also shot over par with a 76, matching Schneider’s final position.

Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, posted an even-par final round to finish T48 at -1 overall.
