Gregor Biernath switches from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting the new golf team for extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has now also welcomed a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts begin next week on January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV set to host a total of 131 golf events live on two channels.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good for Golf is Emerging’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most well-known golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from the TV channel Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. On his move, Biernath stated, ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and revitalize golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and spoke of a ‘really good mix.’
New faces were also sought in the commentator area – and found. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will now commentate golf events together with Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as a hockey moderator for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
