MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Moves from Sky

Gregor Biernath joins MagentaTV from Sky, strengthening the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is now moving from Sky Sport to MagentaTV. The broadcasts start on January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV set to be the new home for live golf on television, offering a total of 131 events across two channels.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Exciting for Golf is Emerging’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is switching from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath leads the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. About his move, Biernath said: ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can shape golf innovatively at MagentaTV and refresh the scene.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and praised the ‘really good mix.’

New Commentator Faces Join the Team

New commentators have also been brought in to join the coverage. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will co-commentate golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as a hockey moderator for MagentaSport, will also be part of the live broadcasts.
