MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky Sports

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV to strengthen the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts begin.

After securing the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has now also attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sports. Starting from January 15, 2026, MagentaTV will become the new home for live golf on television, offering a total of 131 events across two channels.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good is Happening for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most well-known golf voices in the German-speaking area, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He leads the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good can emerge for golf here. We can shape golf innovatively and refresh it at MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” and spoke of a “really good mix.”

New faces have also been found among the commentators. Michael Born, who previously worked as a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Furthermore, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as an ice hockey announcer for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
