Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, joining the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has also convinced a prominent commentator from Sky Sports to join their golf coverage team. The broadcasts will begin next week on January 15, 2026, and will feature 131 events across two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most well-known golf voices in German-speaking countries, is leaving Sky to lead the new expert team at MagentaTV. He will be supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf can be created here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’
In the commentator area, new faces have also been found. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, previously known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
