MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team as comprehensive live coverage begins.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is also switching from Sky Sport to MagentaTV. The broadcasts will start from January 15, 2026, and MagentaTV aims to be the new home for live golf on television, offering a total of 131 events on two channels.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good Is Emerging for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the best-known golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath leads the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath said: “The entire team immediately made me feel that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.” He also described the team as a “cool editorial team” and spoke of a “really good mix.”

In the commentators’ area, new faces were sought and found. Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will now commentate on golf events together with Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey moderator for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
