At the Mitsubishi Electric Championship on the Champions Tour at the Hualalai Golf Course in Kaʻūpūlehu on the Hawaiian volcanic island of Hawaii, American Stewart Cink secured the trophy. The two German starters, Bernhard Langer and Alex Cejka, moved close to the Top 10 on the leaderboard after three rounds.

Champions Tour: Stewart Cink dominates in Hawaii

Stewart Cink started Thursday with a 66, placing himself early in the front ranks of the leaderboard. Although Cink had a bogey on the 16th hole in his second round, he secured a magnificent 63 on Friday with ten birdies in total. With a 64 in the final round and a total of 23 strokes under par, Cink shone at the top of the leaderboard.

Following him on the leaderboard was Argentine Ángel Cabrera, who impressed with an eagle in the final round, but posted a 66 overall with five birdies and one bogey. Cabrera was particularly dangerous on the second day, moving confidently into third place on the leaderboard. He also delivered an outstanding 62 on Friday. The 56-year-old from Córdoba province completed the front nine flawlessly, starting the day with five birdies and an eagle. On the back nine, Cabrera had five birdies but also two bogeys on holes 11 and 17. Still, with a three-stroke deficit to leader Stewart Cink, Cabrera held firmly and secured second place with a two-stroke lead over South African Retief Goosen.

Bernhard Langer steadily moves into Top 10

Bernhard Langer steadily worked his way into the Top 10 during the tournament in Hawaii. He started Thursday in the mid-field with a 70. On the second day, Langer made seven birdies and an eagle, with only one bogey on the 15th hole to endure. His very solid 64 round with eight strokes under par gave him confidence going into the final round. On the third day, Langer gained another two places with a 68 and finished ninth overall with 14 strokes under par.
