At the Mitsubishi Electric Championship of the Champions Tour held at Hualalai Golf Course in Kaʻūpūlehu on the Hawaiian volcanic island of Hawaii, American Stewart Cink emerged victorious and claimed the trophy. The two German participants, Bernhard Langer and Alex Cejka, both played their way into the vicinity of the Top 10 on the leaderboard after three rounds.
Champions Tour: Stewart Cink Dominates in Hawaii
Stewart Cink began with a 66 on Thursday, placing him early among the frontrunners on the leaderboard. Despite a bogey on hole 16 in his second round, he secured a remarkable 63 on Friday with ten birdies in total. Cink finished strong with a 64 on the final day, ending at 23 strokes under par to top the leaderboard.
Following him on the leaderboard was Argentine Ángel Cabrera, who impressed with an eagle in the final round but posted an overall 66 with five birdies and a bogey. On the second day, Cabrera played particularly well, moving confidently into third place. He delivered an outstanding 62 on Friday, playing front nine flawlessly with five birdies and an eagle, while on the back nine he had five birdies and two bogeys on holes 11 and 17. Finishing three strokes behind leader Cink, Cabrera held the second spot two shots ahead of South African Retief Goosen.
Bernhard Langer Moves Securely into Top 10
Bernhard Langer steadily progressed into the Top 10 throughout the tournament in Hawaii. He started with a 70 on Thursday, positioned mid-field. On the second day, Langer achieved seven birdies and an eagle, with only a bogey at hole 15. His solid 64, eight under par, gave him confidence going into the final round. With a 68 on the last day, he gained two additional places, finishing ninth overall at 14 under par.
