Luke Donald has appointed Thomas Bjorn as vice-captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup, which will take place at Bethpage Black, New York, USA, from September 26-28, 2025. Bjorn was already part of the coaching team at the 2023 Ryder Cup when Team Europe secured a memorable 16 ½ – 11 ½ victory over the United States at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. It will be the Dane’s tenth appearance in the continental competition, his sixth as vice-captain. Donald was already presented as the new captain in November.

Success-proven team for the 2025 Ryder Cup

Preparations for the 2025 Ryder Cup continue to gather pace and Luke Donald has added another well-known figure to his captain’s team: Thomas Bjorn has been appointed by Luke Donald as second vice-captain for the prestigious golf event. Together with Donald and Edoardo Molinari, who has also been reappointed as vice-captain, the European team was already successful in Rome in 2023. “It was a natural progression from last time,” commented Bjorn on the reappointment. “Luke called me and said he wanted me to be there in New York too, knowing that the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black will be a completely different challenge. We discussed back and forth, mainly about how to move on from our win in Rome and prepare for New York by evaluating and building on what happened in Rome.”

“I’m very excited to have Thomas back in the team,” Donald expressed enthusiastically. “As soon as I was named captain again, I immediately thought about who I wanted on the backroom staff. And Thomas was definitely one of them. He means a lot to me. He’s passed on his knowledge and I’ve had a great relationship with him over the last few years. It’s important to have those relationships, to enjoy the people you spend time with on this journey.” Bjorn, who was involved in three European victories as a player in 1997, 2002 and 2014, now returns to the team as vice-captain as the Europeans aim to have similar success on American soil.

“We had a fantastic atmosphere in Rome,” Bjorn reflected. “Luke did a great job. He was a fantastic leader, not just of 12 players, but of the whole Team Europe of the Ryder Cup who worked so hard behind the scenes. It was great for me to be part of that because I knew how all those things worked in Paris. To see him add a few extra things in Rome and make it even better was amazing and I was very proud of him. He was exceptional.”

PGA Tour Tee Times: British, Welsh, and Scottish Golfers Take the Green

Let’s dive straight into the PGA Tour Tee Times for our golfers from Great Britain. Starting with Callum Tarren from England, he will tee-off at 06:45 in round 1 alongside Adam Long and Troy Merritt, both from the USA.

Scotland’s Russell Knox is set at 07:09 for the first round alongside Alexander Noren from Sweden and Jimmy Walker of the USA.

The eagerly awaited PGA Tour event, Corales Puntacana Championship is set to te off in the breathtaking Puntacana Resort & Club (Corales Golf Course), located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The tournament prize purse stands at an impressive $4,000,000 and players will be vying to snatch the title from the current defender, Matt Wallace. The Par 72 course is prepared to challenge and reward players over the course of the championship which is set to unfold over two rounds on Thursday and Friday.

PGA Tour Tee Times: American Players’ Showcase

Adam Long, Troy Merritt, Jeff Overton, Sean O’Hair, and Richy Werenski will be joined by England’s Callum Tarren to kick-off the PGA Tour Tee Times at 6:45 am in round 1. Ricky Barnes, Jim Herman, Kyle Stanley, Austin Cook, and Lanto Griffin will start their game at 6:57 am along with South Korea’s Seonghyeon Kim.

Jimmy Walker, Harry Higgs, Tyson Alexander, and Samuel Stevens will tee off at 7:09 am, together with Scotland’s Russel Knox and Sweden’s Alexander Noren. The 7:21 am session comprises Billy Horschel, Chez Reavie, Sam Ryder, and Nick Hardy from the USA, Italy’s Francesco Molinari and Nicolai Højgaard from Denmark.

Joseph Bramlett and Cody Gribble will start round 2 of the PGA Tour tee times at 07:57 am with Roger Sloan from Canada. Similarly, Jonathan Byrd and Brian Stuart tee off at 08:09 am. They will be joined by MJ Daffue from South Africa, France’s Victor Perez, and South African players Garrick Higgo and Thriston Lawrence.

Finally, Erik Compton, Hayden Springer, Ryan McCormick, and Kevin Dougherty will start their rounds at 08:21 am along with Mexico’s Raul Pereda and England’s Alex Fitzpatrick.

Bill Haas, D.A. Point, Sung Kang, Andrew Landry, and Doug Ghim have their tee times scheduled for 11:45 am in round 1. Additionally, Scot Piercy, Mark Hubbard, Kevin Tway, Matthew NeSmith, and Wesley Bryan will start at 11:57 am alongside Ryan Armour.

Americans Daniel Berger, Ryan Brehm, Chad Ramey, and Ben Griffin will tee off alongside Nicolas Echavarria from Colombia and Kyoung-Hoon Lee from South Korea at the PGA Tour tee times of 12:21 pm.

Wrapping up the tee times for the first round, Jason Dufner, Ben Kohles, and Tyler Duncan will tee off at 12:57 pm. Joseph Deraney, Ryan Celano, Jacob Bridgeman, and Trace Crowe will conclude round 2 starting at 08:33 am.

The PGA Tour’s next stop is the RBC Heritage tournament, set to take place at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. With a total prize fund of $20,000,000, the tournament presents a great opportunity for players to ascend the leader board. The tournament, with a par rating of 71, will see golfers compete over two rounds starting on Thursday and continuing on Friday. Round one continues with Lee Hodges at the 08:45 PGA Tour Tee Time. Cameron Young, Tony Finau, and Adam Schenk will then step onto the course, with their first round starting at 08:55 and 09:05 respectively.

The New Zealander was in the pocket of the GOAT in Tiger Woods’ heyday and became the wealthiest sportsman in his home country thanks to the ten per cent share of the boss’s prize money.

This year, Ted Scott has already shared in Scheffler’s successes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship as well as the other top placings, and his Masters triumph adds another 360,000 dollars in prize money commission. This year, the man in his early fifties has certainly earned more money from the world number one’s pocket than, for example, Rory McIlroy on the fairways.

In total, the former mini tour pro is likely to have raked in just under six million dollars since Scheffler persuaded him to give up early retirement in 2021, which Scott decided to do after splitting with Bubba Watson. In the latest World Golf Ranking update, Scottie Scheffler of the USA continues to lead as the world’s top golfer after his second win of the Masters Tournament 2024. Close behind, Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland maintains his second-place ranking after placing T22 in the tournament. McIlroy’s position remains unchanged from the previous week.

Further down the rankings, other UK golfers are experiencing varying degrees of movement. Tommy Fleetwood from England has made a jump to the 11th position, climbing from 13th, showcasing an upward trajectory. However, Matt Fitzpatrick has experienced a slight decline, dropping from 10th to 12th rank. Meanwhile, Tyrrell Hatton has improved his standing by climbing from the 19th to the 16th position.

Outside of the UK contingent, the rankings show notable changes among the elite top-10 golfers globally. Xander Schauffele of the USA has climbed to the third position, up from fifth, while Jon Rahm from Spain has slightly slipped to fourth from third. That marks the first time since July 2023, that a different player is number three. Additionally, Ludvig Aberg from Sweden and Max Homa from the USA have risen to the seventh and ninth positions respectively.
