Brooks Koepka leaves LIV Golf after four seasons

After weeks of speculation, it’s now official: Brooks Koepka is parting ways with the LIV Golf League after four seasons.

The rumors had been circulating for weeks, and now it’s confirmed: Brooks Koepka will no longer be part of the LIV Golf League. The five-time Major champion had been a fixture in the league since 2022 and was one of its most prominent early stars. With five wins, a captaincy at Smash GC, and numerous high-profile appearances, his time with LIV Golf ends earlier than originally planned.

Brooks Koepka says goodbye to LIV Golf

The decision was reportedly mutual. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil confirmed that both sides agreed to end the partnership after the 2025 season. Koepka stated he wants to spend more time with his family, especially his wife Jena and son Crew. The 35-year-old expressed gratitude to the league leadership, his teammates, and fans.

New roles and open questions

Koepka’s contract with LIV Golf was originally set to run through 2026, making this an early departure. His exit prompted a quick reshuffle within his team. Talor Gooch will take over as captain of Smash GC, supported by Jason Kokrak and Graeme McDowell. One spot on the team remains open for the upcoming season.

Koepka becomes the first Major champion to leave the league since its inception. His future path is somewhat clear, though no specific announcements have been made. Following his final LIV Golf appearance in August 2025, a suspension period will apply for the PGA Tour. He remains eligible for the DP World Tour and all four Major championships. However, he has yet to reveal when and where he will return to regular competition.
