Brooks Koepka leaves LIV Golf after four seasons

After weeks of speculation, it’s official: Brooks Koepka is parting ways with the LIV Golf League after four seasons.

What had been a persistent rumor over recent weeks is now confirmed: Brooks Koepka will no longer be part of the LIV Golf League. The five-time Major champion had been a key figure in the league since 2022, securing five wins, serving as captain of Smash GC, and making numerous high-profile appearances. His time with LIV Golf ends earlier than originally planned.

Brooks Koepka says goodbye to LIV Golf

The decision was made mutually, according to both parties. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil confirmed that they agreed to part ways after the 2025 season. Koepka stated he wants to spend more time with his family, especially his wife Jena and son Crew. The 35-year-old expressed gratitude to the league leadership, his teammates, and the fans.

New roles and open questions

Koepka’s contract with LIV Golf was originally set to run through 2026, making this an early exit. His departure prompted a quick restructuring within Smash GC. Talor Gooch will assume the captain’s role, supported by Jason Kokrak and Graeme McDowell. One team spot remains open for the upcoming season.

Koepka becomes the first Major champion to leave the league since its inception. His future path is outlined but not yet detailed: following his final LIV Golf appearance in August 2025, a suspension period for the PGA Tour will apply. He remains eligible for the DP World Tour and all four Major championships. However, he has not announced any specific tournament plans, leaving fans to wonder when and where he will compete next.
