Breaking: Telekom Secures Major Golf Broadcasting Rights for MagentaTV

Starting January 2026, MagentaTV will broadcast PGA, DP World and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new destination for live coverage starting in 2026. Telekom has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its platform MagentaTV. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, MagentaTV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on MagentaTV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These channels will launch in January 2026 and offer full-length tournament broadcasts, player features, historical content, and on-demand access. MS Golf 1 will focus on complete tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will provide supplementary content. The first broadcasts will begin on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire offering will be available at no extra cost to MagentaTV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive golf live coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll present each tournament live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf content, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, viewers who want to follow both weekly tournaments and the Majors will need subscriptions to both MagentaTV and Sky.
