Breaking: Telekom Secures Major Golf Broadcasting Rights for MagentaTV

Starting January 2026, MagentaTV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

In a significant shift for golf broadcasting in Germany, Telekom has secured the rights to air PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events on its MagentaTV platform. The deal, running through 2029, includes 131 tournaments in 2026 alone. Additionally, MagentaTV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on MagentaTV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two newly launched channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—debuting in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will air full tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will feature additional content such as player features, stories, and historical highlights. All content will also be available on-demand. The coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The programming will be included at no extra cost for all MagentaTV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever—from the first tee shots to the final putts, live, informative, and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a large portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the biggest events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, viewers who want to follow both weekly tournaments and the Majors will need subscriptions to both MagentaTV and Sky.
