Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in January 2026. After years of exclusivity with Sky, Telekom has secured the broadcast rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its Magenta TV platform. The agreement runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in both 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will retain the broadcasting rights for all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two new dedicated channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These channels will launch on Magenta TV in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. The coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The year-round programming will be included at no extra cost for all Magenta TV subscribers and will also be accessible to MagentaSport customers as part of their existing packages.

“Golf has a new home on Magenta TV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll present every tournament like never before—live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of the golf calendar, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in golf alongside the Ryder Cup. Sky will also retain rights to the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors, maintaining its hold on the sport’s biggest tournaments.

Golf fans wanting to follow the sport weekly and catch the major events will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky going forward.
