Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Sky retains the Majors.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Telekom has secured the broadcast rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its platform Magenta TV. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in 2026 alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will continue to air the men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two new dedicated channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. Launching in January 2026, these channels will feature full tournament broadcasts, player features, current stories, and historical content. MS Golf 1 will show all tournaments in full, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content. Coverage kicks off January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The service will be included at no extra cost for all Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home at MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, we’ll present each tournament like never before—live, informative, and with a modern twist,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing a significant portion of golf rights, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the men’s and women’s Majors, as well as the Solheim Cup. These events remain among the most prestigious in the sport, ensuring Sky retains a vital part of the golf broadcasting landscape.

Going forward, fans who want to watch weekly live golf and the biggest tournaments will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
