Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Deutsche Telekom has secured the broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its Magenta TV service. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to broadcast all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package will deliver approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two new dedicated channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire offering will be included at no extra cost for Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has a new home at MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, we’ll present every tournament like never before—live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. Golf fans who want to follow both weekly tournaments and the Majors will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
