Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Deutsche Telekom has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its platform Magenta TV. This new deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The rights package includes around 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will broadcast full tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, historical highlights, and on-demand programming. The first events to be aired include the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational, starting January 15. The golf content will be available at no extra cost to all Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home at MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, we’ll show every tournament like never before—live, informative, and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the four men’s Majors, the Ryder Cup, the Solheim Cup, and all five women’s Majors. As a result, golf fans wanting full coverage of both weekly tour events and the sport’s biggest tournaments will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
