Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting January 2026. After years of exclusive broadcasting by Sky, Telekom has acquired the rights to air PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events via its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two new dedicated channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These channels will launch on Magenta TV in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will offer full-length coverage of all tournaments, while MS Golf 2 will feature additional content such as player features, current stories, and historical insights. On-demand content will also be available. The programming kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The golf coverage will be included at no extra cost for all Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on Magenta TV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, we’ll show every tournament like never before—live, informative, and with a modern touch,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Keeps the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the biggest events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, fans who want to follow weekly golf action and the sport’s most prestigious tournaments will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
