Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Telekom has secured the broadcasting rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes coverage of 131 tournaments in 2026 alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes around 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, historical highlights, and on-demand options. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The golf content will be available at no extra cost to all Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever—live, informative, and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV. “It’s designed for both seasoned fans and new audiences discovering the sport.”

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing a significant portion of golf content, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the men’s and women’s Majors, as well as the Solheim Cup. These events remain among the most prestigious in the sport, ensuring Sky maintains a vital part of the golf broadcasting landscape.

Going forward, fans wanting full access to weekly golf action and major tournaments will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
