Bernhard Langer shares his fond memories of playing the PNC Championship alongside his son and why the event is so special.
Bernhard Langer vividly recalls his first appearance at the PNC Championship. At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly part of a field filled with golf legends. “We had a blast,” Langer says today. “Back then, he had to compete against pro teams—hitting drives and then aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, though. “It was just a wonderful time.” For Langer, it marked the beginning of a cherished tradition. “I loved this tournament from the moment I was invited.”

For Bernhard Langer, that’s a big part of the appeal. “Being out there with other Major champions and legends of the game is just something special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about sharing the experience with family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet budding swings, with Langer at the center—as both father and player.
A Holiday Tradition
The December slot makes the event even more special for many players—including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, right before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion.” While the
