Bernhard Langer cherishes memories of the PNC Championship

Bernhard Langer reflects on his cherished memories at the PNC Championship and playing alongside his son.

Bernhard Langer vividly recalls his first appearance at the PNC Championship. At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among the sport’s elite. “We had a blast,” Langer says. “Back then, he had to compete against professional teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t easy, but that wasn’t the point. “It was just a wonderful time.” That debut marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day. “I loved the tournament from the very first moment I was invited.”

Among Major Champions and Legends

The PNC Championship brings together golfers who have made history. For Bernhard Langer, that’s part of the magic. “Being out there with other Major champions and legends of the game is something truly special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet budding swings, with Langer in the middle—as a father and a player.

A Holiday Tradition

The December date makes the tournament special for many players—including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, just before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion.” While the PGA Tour and other circuits are on winter break, this event stands out each year—golf, camaraderie, and generational connection.
