His son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly in the mix with golf’s elite. “We had an amazing time,” Langer recalls. “Back then, he had to compete against professional teams—hitting drives and then aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, though. “It was just a wonderful experience.” That debut marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day. “I loved this tournament from the very first moment I was invited.”
