Bernhard Langer cherishes family memories at the PNC Championship

Bernhard Langer reflects on his cherished memories at the PNC Championship and playing alongside his son.

Bernhard Langer vividly remembers his first appearance at the PNC Championship. At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among the greats. “We had a blast,” Langer recalls. “Back then, he had to compete against pro teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score. “It was just a wonderful time.” That debut marked the beginning of a lasting tradition. “I loved this tournament from the moment I was invited.”

Among Major champions and golf legends

The PNC Championship brings together players who have shaped golf history. For Bernhard Langer, that’s part of the magic. “Being out there with other Major champions and some legends of the game is something special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Big careers meet small swings, with Langer in the middle—as both father and competitor.

A holiday tradition

The December date makes the event special for many players—including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, just before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion.” While the PGA Tour and others are on winter break, this tournament stands out as a unique celebration of golf, camaraderie, and generational connection.
