At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and right in the mix with golf’s elite. “We had so much fun,” Langer says today. “Back then, he had to compete against professional teams—hitting drives and then aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t an easy task, but that wasn’t the point. “It was just a great time.” For Langer, it marked the beginning of a cherished tradition. “I loved this tournament from the very first moment I was invited.”
