Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a tense playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.

At the final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) held across four courses at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, 35 players earned their Asian Tour cards. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing at 16-under-par to lead the Q-School class. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from previous rounds (68–67–70–67).

Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin

Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida. Since turning professional in 2023, he has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Putting issues, which he described as mostly “mental,” had held him back. “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and now my game feels good again,” Yuxin said. “It’s been tough, with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”

India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after rounds of 70–67–65–66, though a final-round 72 with four bogeys cost him the top spot. Canadian Henry Lee finished third at 14-under-par.

Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff

The battle for the final tour cards was especially dramatic. Twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place entered a playoff for the remaining eight spots. The playoff stretched over five holes, with eight players ultimately securing their Asian Tour cards—including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen, Baden-Württemberg. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, finishing with a final-round 70 (-2) and consistent earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, demonstrated his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.

Other German participants at the Asian Tour Q-School failed to make the cut after the fourth round. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all missed out on qualification.
