Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a dramatic playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.
At the Final Stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School), held across four courses at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, 35 players earned their Asian Tour cards — including German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense tournament days, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing 16-under-par to lead the Q-School graduates. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67).
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Yuxin’s victory marks a major milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. Since then, he has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events. Yuxin cited mental challenges with his putting as a key hurdle: “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since.” He added, “It’s been tough, with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a valuable experience.”
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after a final-round 72 that included four bogeys. Canadian Henry Lee secured third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff
The battle for the final tour cards came down to a tense playoff. Twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place competed for the last eight available cards. After five playoff holes, eight players emerged successful — among them Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen, Baden-Württemberg, delivered a steady performance throughout the week, capping it with a final-round 70 (-2). His earlier rounds (71–67–72–70) kept him in contention, and his playoff success earned him the coveted Asian Tour card. Hammer brings experience from the DP World Tour, where he posted three top-10 finishes last season.
Other German participants — Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) — failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
