Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card in Hua Hin after a five-hole playoff. Other Germans fail to make the cut.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their tour cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer. After five intense days, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard and led the Q-School field. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67). At 16-under-par overall, the 25-year-old claimed first place and comfortably secured his Asian Tour card.

Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin

Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida. Since turning pro in 2023, he has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Putting woes, which he described as mostly “mental,” had held him back. “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer,” Yuxin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good again for a while now.” He added, “It’s been tough with a lot of ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a valuable experience.”

Close behind was India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya, who posted consistent rounds of 70–67–65–66 before stumbling on the final day with a 72 and four bogeys. He finished second at 15-under-par. Canada’s Henry Lee claimed third at 14-under.

Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour ticket in playoff

The battle for the final tour cards came down to a dramatic playoff. Twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place competed for the remaining eight spots. After five playoff holes, eight players emerged with Asian Tour cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, closing with a 70 (-2) to follow up rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, proved his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.

Other German participants at the Q-School failed to secure tour cards. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all missed the cut after the fourth round.
