Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a tense playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans fall short after round four.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) took place across four courses at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand. A total of 35 players earned their Asian Tour cards, including German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing the event at 16-under-par. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his solid form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67).
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida. Since turning professional in 2023, Yuxin has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. He has struggled with putting, which he described as mostly a mental challenge. “I played well all season but had issues with the putter, especially in the summer,” Yuxin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since. It’s been a tough journey with ups and downs, but I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after rounds of 70–67–65–66, though a final-round 72 with four bogeys cost him the top spot. Canadian Henry Lee claimed third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff
The battle for the final tour cards was especially dramatic, with twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place heading into a playoff for the last eight spots. The playoff extended over five holes, ultimately awarding cards to eight players, including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a consistent performance throughout the tournament, finishing with a final-round 70 (-2) and earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has prior experience on the DP World Tour, proved his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.
Other German participants at the Q-School failed to make the cut after the fourth round. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all missed out on securing a tour card.
