Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a tense playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their Asian Tour cards. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer, who clinched his spot after a dramatic five-hole playoff. Leading the field was China’s Lin Yuxin, who delivered a stellar performance over five days to top the leaderboard.

Lin Yuxin tops Asian Tour Q-School

Left-handed Lin Yuxin impressed throughout the tournament, finishing with rounds of 68–67–70–67–67 for a total of 16-under-par. The 25-year-old’s victory marks a major milestone in his professional career. A two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship winner (2017, 2019), Yuxin played college golf at the University of Florida and turned professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Reflecting on his recent struggles with putting, Yuxin said, ‘I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since.’ He added, ‘It’s been tough with lots of ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.’

India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under after rounds of 70–67–65–66–72. Canada’s Henry Lee secured third place with a 14-under total.

The battle for the final Asian Tour cards came down to a playoff among twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place. After five intense holes, eight players emerged with cards—including Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen delivered consistent rounds of 71–67–72–70–70, showcasing solid form throughout the week. Hammer, who has experience on the DP World Tour and posted three top-10 finishes last season, now adds the Asian Tour to his resume.

Other German participants—Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118)—failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
