Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a dramatic playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.
At the Final Stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School), held across four courses at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, 35 players earned their Asian Tour cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing at 16-under-par and leading the Q-School class of 2025.
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Lin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded left-hander. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), Lin played college golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events. Putting woes, which he described as mainly mental, had held him back. “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer,” Lin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since then.” Reflecting on his journey, he added, “It’s been tough with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a very valuable experience.”
Trailing closely behind was India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya, who posted consistent rounds of 70–67–65–66 before stumbling with a final-round 72 that included four bogeys. He finished at 15-under-par, just one shot behind Lin. Canada’s Henry Lee secured third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff
The battle for the final tour cards came down to a tense playoff. Twelve players tied for 28th at five-under-par, competing for the last eight available cards. The playoff stretched over five holes, with eight players ultimately securing their place on the Asian Tour — among them, Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, closing with a 70 (-2) to add to his earlier rounds of 71–67–72. Hammer, who already has DP World Tour experience and three Top 10 finishes last season, now adds the Asian Tour to his résumé.
Other German participants — Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) — failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
