Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff in Hua Hin

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card at Q-School in Hua Hin after a tense playoff. Other Germans miss the cut after round four.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, saw 35 players earn their Asian Tour cards — among them German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing at 16-under-par to lead the Q-School rankings. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his consistent form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67).

Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin

Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. Competing on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events, Yuxin has faced challenges with his putting, which he described as mostly “mental.” He shared, “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since.” He added, “It’s been tough with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a valuable experience.”

Close behind was India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya, who posted consistent scores over the first four rounds (70–67–65–66) but stumbled on the final day with a 72, including four bogeys, to finish at 15-under-par. Canadian Henry Lee followed in third at 14-under.

Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff

The battle for the final tour cards came down to a dramatic playoff. Twelve players tied at five-under-par (T28) competed for the remaining eight spots. The playoff extended over five holes, with eight players ultimately securing their cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, closing with a 70 (-2) to follow rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has experience on the DP World Tour, proved his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.

Other German participants — Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) — failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
