First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager for more, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.
As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known as a fierce competitor who thrives on top-level competition, was less motivated in LIV, having joined primarily in 2022 due to injury concerns and to secure a solid retirement fund. Thus, his waiver of the final contract year is not surprising, though questions remain about potential buyouts or repayment of guaranteed fees. He remains the owner of the LIV team Smash GC, which appointed Talor Gooch as captain.
Speculation abounds over where Koepka will next appear—on the DP World Tour with immediate playing privileges (possibly with a penalty), or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV start. This follows the reduction of lifetime bans originally imposed by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. This issue seems partly resolved: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the players’ ranks.
