Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns Immediately to PGA Tour

First start at Farmers, Vijay Singh aims for another shot, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

Expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected with the rival circuit but needs more time for his family, according to a friendly agreement stated by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, was less motivated at LIV events. In 2022, he primarily joined LIV as he feared his career might end due to injuries and sought a solid retirement fund. His skipping the last contractual season raises questions: did he buy out his contract or repay part of his guaranteed salary? He remains an owner of LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation grows about where Koepka will next compete — the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible, perhaps with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where a one-year suspension applies post-last LIV participation, though lifetime bans imposed by former Commissioner Jay Monahan have been softened. Why be vindictive if prominent LIV returnees serve and benefit the established tour? ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership not extended after 2022 and to be reinstated as a player.
