Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull preparing for YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time. This was reportedly mutually agreed upon, according to official LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, something he lacked in LIV. In 2022, he joined LIV primarily due to injury concerns and financial security for retirement. His skipping the last contract year is unsurprising, though questions remain if he had to buy out or repay part of his guaranteed purse. He still owns his LIV team Smash GC, led by new captain Talor Gooch.

Speculation is high about which fairways Koepka will play on next season: the DP World Tour where he could be immediately eligible, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a 1-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after lifetime bans were softened. Why retaliate when a returning LIV star benefits the PGA Tour? This question seems partly answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which he had not renewed since 2022.
