Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers; Vijay Singh ready for a comeback; Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season beginning February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, a competitive type energized by top-level competition, was less motivated during his LIV stint. His 2022 move to LIV was largely due to injury concerns and securing a solid retirement fund. Thus, forgoing the last contracted season is not surprising, though questions remain about buyout terms and his ownership of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rife about which fairways Koepka will next grace. Will it be the DP World Tour, where he could play immediately, potentially with a penalty? Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV appearance, following the significant easing of former Commissioner Jay Monahan’s lifetime bans? This key dilemma seems partly answered as ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally requested reinstatement to the PGA Tour last Friday, seeking to reactivate his membership after it was not renewed post-2022.
