Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to play again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner intends to remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time. This was amicably agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. But Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, something LIV offered only limited motivation. His 2022 move to LIV was mainly due to injury concerns, seeking a solid retirement fund. It’s no surprise he forwent his final contractual season, though questions remain about buyout terms and whether he remains an owner of LIV Team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation continues about where Koepka will play next—on the DP World Tour, where he’d be immediately eligible (possibly with a penalty), or on the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension from his last LIV appearance. The lifetime bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly softened. Returning LIV players, especially prominent ones, benefit the PGA Tour, which holds the upper hand. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which lapsed in 2022, seeking reinstatement.
