Koepka Rejoins PGA Tour Without Suspension; Other Golf Headlines

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh aims for a comeback, Charley Hull launching on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, five-time major winner Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; he remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was amicably agreed, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, a competitor motivated by high-level contests, had limited enthusiasm for LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mostly due to injuries threatening his career and to secure a solid retirement fund. Skipping the final contractual season raises questions: Was there a buyout or repayment? Does he remain co-owner of LIV team Smash GC, captained by Talor Gooch?

Speculation surrounds where Koepka will play next—DP World Tour, potentially with a penalty, or PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, reduced from lifetime bans by former commissioner Jay Monahan. Why retaliate when every LIV returnee benefits the stronger PGA Tour? ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership ended in 2022 and seeks reinstatement among players.

His suspension could expire in August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship. He would be eligible for 2027 as the PGA Tour prepares a new schedule of nearly two dozen $20 million tournaments with limited elite fields—ideal for Koepka’s comeback. PGA Tour Enterprises investors would welcome a star of his caliber.

Jon Rahm recently told the ‘Subpar’ podcast, \”He might need some time, but I think he will return to the PGA Tour.
