Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This came after a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeill’s official statement. However, Koepka is known as a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, something he lacked at LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 expecting to end his career due to injuries while securing a solid retirement fund. So, skipping the last contracted season is not surprising, although questions remain whether he had to buy out his contract or return part of his guaranteed purse. He remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch now team captain.

Speculation grows about where Koepka will play next: on the DP World Tour where he would be immediately eligible (possibly paying a penalty), or on the PGA Tour where he would have to serve a one-year suspension following his last LIV participation, after former Commissioner Jay Monahan significantly softened the initial lifetime bans. Why hold grudges when LIV returnees, especially a prominent one, benefit the longer-established tours? This key question seems partly answered. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022, seeking to be reinstated as a tour player.
