Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf League season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. LIV CEO Scott McNeil confirmed this amicable agreement. However, Koepka is a competitive type who gets highly motivated and fired up only through sports contests at the highest level, something he barely experienced at LIV. He switched to LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns threatening to end his career and to secure a substantial retirement fund. Thus, foregoing the last contractually required season is unsurprising, though questions remain about potential buyouts or salary repayments. He remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, which appointed Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Much speculation exists about which fairways Koepka will play next. The DP World Tour would grant immediate eligibility, likely with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, following softened lifetime bans initially imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan. Why hold grudges when prominent LIV returnees serve the PGA Tour’s interests? This key question seems partially answered. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his expired PGA Tour membership and be readmitted.
