Expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the competitor circuit but needs more family time, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s statement. Koepka, known as a competitor highly motivated by top-level challenges, was less engaged at LIV and joined primarily in 2022 due to injury concerns and to secure a good retirement fund. His foregone final contracted season raises questions about any buyout or refund of guaranteed pay. He remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.
Speculation centers on where Koepka will next compete: the DP World Tour where he could play immediately, presumably with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV event after significant reduction of previous lifetime bans. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed after 2022, seeking reinstatement.
