Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to play again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf League season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will stay connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is a competitor who gets highly motivated and fired up primarily in top-level competition, which he had limited opportunities for in LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 mainly because of injury concerns and to secure a solid retirement fund. Thus, skipping the last contractual season isn’t surprising, although questions remain about whether he had to buy out his contract or repay part of his guarantee. He remains an owner of LIV team Smash GC, which has already named Talor Gooch as new captain.

Speculations are mainly about where Koepka will compete next. On the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible to play – likely facing a penalty? Or on the PGA Tour, where he would have to serve a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, since the former commissioner Jay Monahan significantly reduced lifetime bans? Why be vindictive when every returning LIV player, especially a prominent one, would strengthen the already dominant Tour? This key question seems partially answered. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which he did not renew after 2022, aiming at rejoining the player ranks.
