First start at Farmers, Vijay Singh wants another shot, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.
As expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the LIV Golf League for the 2026 season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. But Koepka is a competitor who thrives on top-level competition and motivation, which he only partly found at LIV. He switched to LIV in 2022 primarily because injury had threatened to end his career prematurely, and he wanted a solid retirement fund. Given that, his skipping the final contractual playing year isn’t surprising, though questions remain. Did he have to buy out of the contract or repay part of his guaranteed salary? Does the 35-year-old remain an owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which already named Talor Gooch as the new captain?
Speculation is rife over which fairways Koepka will next appear on. On the DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately – possibly after a penalty? Or on the PGA Tour where he would have to serve a one-year suspension since his last LIV event, following a significant softening of the previously life bans imposed by former Commissioner Jay Monahan? Why be vindictive if every LIV returnee, especially a star, plays right into the hands of the longer-established Tour? That essential question now seems partly answered. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022, to be reinstated as a player.
