Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh is ready for a comeback, and Charley Hull is soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was reportedly agreed amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka, a fierce competitor who thrives in high-level contests, had limited motivation for LIV events. He switched to LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure a lucrative retirement fund. Thus, his opting out of the final contractual season is not surprising, although questions remain about possible buyouts or salary repayments. He also remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch recently named captain.

Speculation abounds about where Koepka will compete next: the DP World Tour where he would be immediately eligible, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, following a softening of prior lifetime bans. Why be vindictive when LIV returnees, especially prominent ones, ultimately benefit the PGA Tour—the dominant tour? ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022.
