Expectedly, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major champion intends to remain connected to the competing circuit but desires more time for his family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, skepticism remains as Koepka, known for his competitive spirit at the highest level, seemed less motivated during his LIV stint. Having joined LIV in 2022 amid career injury concerns and seeking a solid retirement fund, his relinquishing of the final contractual season is unsurprising, though questions linger regarding potential buyouts or salary repayments. Koepka, 35, remains owner of his LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.
Speculations swirl about which circuits Koepka will join next. Eligible immediately on the DP World Tour, perhaps with a penalty, or on the PGA Tour where a one-year suspension applies since his last LIV appearance, following reductions from previous lifetime bans imposed by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. This crucial query seems partially answered as ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player pool after his 2022 departure.
