As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level competition and motivation, which was limited during his LIV tenure. He switched in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure a good retirement fund. Thus, skipping the last contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain about potential payouts or ownership status of his LIV team Smash GC, now led by Talor Gooch.
Speculation intensifies about which tours Koepka will appear on next. The DP World Tour would grant immediate playing privileges, possibly with a penalty, while the PGA Tour had imposed a one-year suspension following his last LIV event, which has since been softened by former commissioner Jay Monahan. Returning LIV players, especially big names like Koepka, benefit the dominant tours. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally requested last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed since 2022.
