Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was a friendly agreement according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. However, Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, which he found limited at LIV. He switched to LIV in 2022 largely due to injury concerns and to secure a solid retirement fund. Thus, skipping the final contractual season is understandable though questions remain: Did he have to buy out his contract or return part of his guaranteed paycheck? Does he remain owner of LIV team Smash GC, which appointed Talor Gooch as captain?

Speculation is rife on where Koepka will next play. On the DP World Tour, where he would have immediate eligibility, perhaps with a penalty payment? Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, after previous lifetime bans by former Commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly softened? Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee strengthens the dominant Tour? This key question seems partly answered. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player ranks.

Any suspension would expire by August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship from August 27-30. Koepka would be eligible for 2027 when the PGA Tour launches its compressed schedule with around two dozen $20-million events featuring elite, limited fields. The perfect
