Membership renewed, no ban: Koepka back on PGA Tour immediately

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh returns, Charley Hull to launch on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will stay connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was amicably agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, known as a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, was only moderately motivated during his LIV tenure. He had switched in 2022 mainly because of injury concerns and to secure a substantial retirement fund. Thus, skipping the last contractual season is not surprising, although questions remain about any buyout or refund of guaranteed money. He remains owner of LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch now captain.

Speculation abounds about which fairways Koepka will appear on next: the DP World Tour where he would be immediately eligible, possibly after a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV appearance, reduced from a lifetime ban. Why hold grudges when LIV returnees strengthen the established tour? ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reinstate his PGA Tour membership, which expired after 2022.
