Nerve-wracking Bahrain finish: Freddy Schott wins playoff against Reed and Hill, celebrates first DP World Tour victory, climbs to 9th in Race to Dubai.

At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour remained thrilling until the final moments. In a tight race between Scot Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German Freddy Schott, Schott emerged victorious in a gripping playoff on the final day. This marks Schott’s first triumph on the DP World Tour. His win propels the Düsseldorf native to 9th place in the Race to Dubai leaderboard, jumping 94 positions.

Trio Shares Lead After Final Round

All three players finished the final Sunday tied at 17 under par atop the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved by one stroke with a 69-round compared to the previous day. He shone on the front nine with four birdies but incurred a bogey at hole 8. His back nine was solid overall despite a double bogey at hole 11. Three more birdies and one bogey rounded out his day at three under par.

American Patrick Reed carded a 67, five under par, with seven birdies and two bogeys, closely matching his best round of 66 from Saturday.

Scottish player Calum Hill shot an average 71, one under par, retaining a high position on the leaderboard. His impressive 61 on Friday gave him a cushion, but his rivals closed in during the final round. Despite five birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey, Hill couldn’t secure an outright win at the Royal Golf Club.
