Freddy Schott Wins First DP World Tour Title in Dramatic Playoff in Bahrain

Nerve-racking Bahrain battle: Freddy Schott wins in a playoff against Reed and Hill, claiming his first DP World Tour victory and rising to 9th in Race to Dubai.

The Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain delivered a thrilling finale on the DP World Tour. In a tight contest involving Scotsman Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German Freddy Schott, it was the German who emerged victorious in a tense playoff on the final day. This victory marks Schott’s first DP World Tour win and propels the Düsseldorf native up to 9th place in the Race to Dubai, climbing 94 spots.

Trio Shares Lead After Final Round

All three contenders finished Sunday 17 under par, tied atop the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved his score from the previous day with a 69, featuring four birdies on the front nine but slipping with a bogey on hole 8. Despite a double bogey on hole 11, three more birdies helped him close with three under par for the day.

Patrick Reed carded a 67, five under par, with seven birdies and two bogeys, nearly matching his Saturday best of 66.

Calum Hill scored a one-under 71, managing to maintain a high leaderboard position thanks to a brilliant 61 on Friday. However, five birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey on Sunday were not enough to secure a win at the Royal Golf Club.

DP World Tour: Dramatic Playoff Decision for Freddy Schott

The playoff began with Schott making par, while Reed bogeyed with a five. Hill matched par with four strokes, prompting a second playoff hole. There, Hill faltered with a seven on the par-4, falling out of contention. Schott held steady with even par to clinch the championship.

Spanish star Sergio García, who had led during the event, finished with a 68 to tie for fourth alongside New Zealander Daniel Hillier, both ending 16 under par.
